The science club held the in-
stallation ceremony for the new
officers for the coming year at a
picnic held at Cobb park Tuesday
evening May 4.
The new officers are as follows:
Edwin Franks president; Robert
Harwell vice-president; Leona
Melsaner secretary-treasurer; Jim
K. French corresponding secre-
tary; and D. Q. Porterfleld par-
liamentarian. The retiring officers were: Brady
Cox president; Earl Williams
vice-president; Wanda Rice secretary-treasurer;

4 Wesley Daniel was elected pres-
ident and Elton Wyatt vice-president.

The MrMuny Alumni nnd Ex-
Student association will hold Its
annual dinner at Iris Graham
Memorial dining hall May 24.
Eldon Mahon will act ns master
of ceremonies. Alex Bickley Abi-
lene attorney will be the speaker
for the occasion. Entertainment
will be furnished by the McMurry
quartet and Sue Rattarce.
This year's gradiuting class
will be the guests of honor at
the dirncr and will be initiated
Into the association.
Classes from 1926 to the present
graduating class will be featured
at separate tables.

favorites makes up the Immediate
court and runncrs-up in the elec-
tion make up the rest of the court.
The queen. Chief nnd the court
will be honored In ceremonies dur-
ing assembly Monday morning.
Mel is a senior math major and
a graduate of Platnvlew high
school. He Is a member of I.H R.
nnd was elected vice-president for
111 17-48. He was captain of the
Indinn football team this year .ind
will he line coach next year.
Joy is a graduate of Lamesa
high school and Is n sophomore
biology major. She is a member
of the W.A.A. Sigma Lambda
Kappa nnd Gamma Sigma.

A&M Fellowship
Kemp Anderson senior from
San Saba has been awarded a
$900 master's fellowship at Okla-
homa A. & M Stillwater. He will
enter school there June & and ex-
pects to do some teaching; and
administrative work. Kemp Is a
journalism major and will study
industrial Journalism In graduate
school. He was editor of the 1948
Totem and took part in other ac-
tivities of the school.
Two seniors graduating In pub-
lic relation are also entering
graduate schools Fritz Leas will
study house organ and Industrial
editing at Oklahoma A. & M.
Tom Cody will have the dis-
tinction of being among the first
students In the United States to
graduate with a master's degree
in public relations. Tom whose
home is Clyde will leave here in
the latter part of August for Bos-
ton university where he will en-
loll in the school of public rela-
tions. McMurry was the first college
to offer a public relations sequence
and was closely followed by Boston
unlver; Ity.
