of partial strength for some task to benefit pure scholarship rather
than to minister to the delight of the public, he did faithfully
what he could in giving his true measure of devotion to the cause
he loved. It is only fitting that those who knew of what he accom-
plished and sympathized with his aims and struggles should render
him a modest tribute of love and appreciation.
