figures, location of Indian tribes, steamboat, ship and sloop navigation routes,
routes like the Caravan Route from Independence to Santa Fe [Santa Fe 'Tail].

Subtitle: "Compiled from the Most Recent Authorities." Published by S. Augustus
Mitchell, 1846. Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1845 by H. N.
Burroughs in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the Eastern District of
Pennsylvania. The map in printed colors shows the states in the title and
surrounding territories, rivers, mountains, location of Indian tribes, capitals of
states, county seats, counties, common towns, forts, trading houses, the boundary of
Oregon as proposed by the United States in blue and as proposed by Great Britain
in red, the emigrant route to Oregon, the route of Fremont's explorations, the
Caravan route from Missouri to Santa Fe, and the Great Spanish 'fTail from
California to Santa Fe. Notes are included on the trail to Oregon as is a chart of
distances from the point of origin of the trail. Two copies and two photostats. The
copy from which the photostats are made has a hand written inscription referring
to an inked line from Texas to the Pacific Coast: [Translation from the Spanish]
"What the United States want to take." Scale: 1 inch-loo statute miles. 11 inches-
