Texas Collection
Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch of September 30, 1962, which has an
article by Bill Arter on O. Henry entitled "Pen Magic."
The Autumn, 1962, issue of the Arkansas Historical Quarterly
contains correspondence edited by Robert W. Williams, Jr. and
Ralph A. Wooster, "With Wharton's Cavalry in Arkansas: The
Civil War Letters of Private Isaac Dunbar Affleck," a member of
Major General John A. Wharton's escort company of Texans.
Texas Libraries, the bimonthly journal of the Texas State Li-
brary, in its issue for May-June, 1962, includes articles on Cald-
well Walton Raines, "Life of Early Librarian Sketched," by Dor-
man H. Winfrey; and "E. W. Winkler and the Texas State
Library," by Llerena Friend.
The program for the Tyler County Dogwood Festival, Wood-
ville, Texas, held on March 31, 1962, contains "'Sawmill Days,'
Tyler County Texas, from 188o to 19oo," by James E. and Josiah
Wheat.
The twenty-sixth Biennial Report of the Texas Library and
Historical Commission, State Library for the period September,
1958-August, 1960, contains an "Index to the Newspaper Micro-
film Collection in the Texas State Archives," compiled by Robert
H. Arthur. Almost one hundred newspapers from twenty-three
towns and cities are included in the collection.
The summer, 1962, issue of the Library Chronicle of the Uni-
versity of Texas contains articles on "The Making of the Latin
American Collection," by Nettie Lee Benson; "Ashbel Smith; The
Library of a Regent," by Llerena Friend; and "New Additions
to the University Archives," by Chester V. Kielman.
The New Mexico Historical Review for July, 1958, included
an article on "Adrian Woll: Frenchman in the Mexican Military
Service," by Joseph Milton Nance.
Tradition: The Monthly Magazine of America's Picturesque
Past contained an article on "The 1900oo Galveston Storm," by
Carol Osmon in the issue of October, 1961.
