Mercy on Me they Would Whip the harder I found I must

and run for life Scale the fence and Make there Way Under the house
and Not a Whist Could be herd from them The Cattle run for
there life and there hedds Could be seen bobing Up and there homes
by the dim light of the Moon Could be Seen for Some distonce
Bounding for life the horses also Split thrugh the are in quic time
they Made Some of the longest and quickest Jumps I ever See by Moon
light the hoggs that had Nested forsook there Nest and went
through the bushes as if the devvle had Cicked them in End and
thus We Went Untill bout day light During which time We travled
Menny Miles and Wake up Menny famulys of a Sudden and viseted
Menny Old Dogerys Now bout day they Come to a Verry large
Jack Oack tree there they Ordered Me Off of My Horse and One
of those waiters Came and took My Horse and lead him Off and they
Most all dismounted Here they partly On [sic] And then abused
me in a Shamful Manner And then Spitt tobacco Spitt Upon Me
Untill I Was Unacountible Here they Ordered Me to Mount My
horse I was bout Used up but Suceded after Menny Cicks and
thumps Upon Me Here I was Ordered to return to the road and
Never be See in that part a gane When I found the road take the
rite End of it and Never be Seen there in that place agane if I
wanted to live after I had Started One of those princes Come With
A Clubb 9 or io feet in lenfth and gave a blow that Would have
Stratened Me prostrate Upon the Ground had Not the Clubb broak
in 3 peaces Here it Noct Me blind though I suceded in Sticking
Upon My Horse ofter I had got a fue rods from them I looked
round and See they was in a Sercle holding there Council and No One
in there Saddles So I put Spur to My Horse and went On Some
Ways and took to a little grove that Stood to the rite Of the road
Here I listened a While but herd No One after Me then I dis-
mounted as I could Hardly Stand throud down My Saddle and
Blancet holding One End of the Laryett and fell Upon My blancet
