ciation and frequent contributor of Texana, sent the following
item, describing it as "a pure gem. The time is of the Coolidge
era, the location is Throckmorton County.... It is pure un-
varnished country politics. The language used has a charm
that is refreshing."

ANNOUNCEMENT IS UNIQUE
In scanning over our exchange list we came upon a political
announcement that is unique and which was written by Jeff Fowler,
who desires to be county attorney for Throckmorton county. There
is much fine sentiment contained in the article, and we pass it
on to you:
"To the Voters of Throckmorton county:
"Having ben [sic] strongly solicited by my wife, I hereby announce
my candidacy for the office of county attorney. I shall be opposed
in this race by two of your best known citizens, Hon. B. F. Reynolds
and Mr. James F. Wright. Concerning them, I shall have nothing
to say except that they are upright and honorable men deserving
your confidence and support.
"Mr. Reynolds came to Throckmorton county before the most of
us were born when it represented the last outpost of civilization
and lay far out on the edge of the wild frontier. But for such men
as he, who came here when every step was attended by dangers,
and existence meant a battle and a march, there would be no
Throckmorton county and no county attorney's office to fill. For
this labor and sacrifice, we are all grateful. A life of noble deeds
and great achievements recommend him to the voters. He is my
friends [sic] and I love him. I have served him for the past year and
am, at present, his assistant.
