calves and shoots a mountain lion, but also hosts a ladies' bridge club and serves
on the school board. Like Hallie's favorite place, a rock behind her house where
she watched the sun set and sorted out her thoughts, her autobiography serves
to stir the imagination and increase understanding of the realities of women's
lives and work on Texas ranches.
