Short meeting for senate
sees constitution referral
Student Association senators
met for only 15 minutes
Tuesday night referring the
consitution of a new
organization Ebony Emani to
the Academic Affairs com-
mittee. In other business junior
senator Ted Miller reported
that he had sent letters to 15
other church-related schools to
ascertain their policies on dorm
visitation.
In contrast . last week's
meeting lasted for almost an
hour and a half as senators con-
sidered five bills on second
reading and discussion. They
tabled two passed two and
declared another a dead issue.

Editor deadline set
The deadline for applying for
the 1980-81 school year is 5 p.m. Friday April 18 said Miss
Tessica Martin publications sponsor. Positions open include
Yellow Jacket editor Isso editor Sting editor and Yellow
Jacket business manager. Each position carries a scholarship.
Applicants should have some journalism background should
be a junior or senior next year and should have at least a 2.0
grade point average. Anyone interested should interview with
Miss Martin and then file a formal application. Final selections
of editors and business manager will be made by the
Publications Board composed of students and faculty
representatives.
Advisement continues
Advisement and schedule making continues through April 18
said Bennett Ragsdale registrar. Students should see their
major advisor to make out a schedule during this time. Students
should fill out a schedule even if they do not plan to return to
Howard Payne in the fall.
Proficiency test makeups
Students in the school of education who missed the English
Proficiency Test the first time it was administered should plan
to take the test Saturday April
Dr. Gene Johnson dean of the
ts should sign the list in Dr. Johhnson's office on second floor Old
Main by Friday April 18. Anyone who is taking or planning to
take courses in the school of education must take this test.
Loan contacts to be made
Graduating seniors who have utilized the National direct
Student Loan will be contacted in April concerning exit in-
terview meetings to discuss the repayment of their loans said
Mrs. Glenda Huff director of student aid.
All other students who have National Direct Student Loans
and will not be returning for the 1980 Fall semester need to con-
tact the Student Aid office at Ext. 344 immediately to make
arrangements for the repayment of their loans.

the wearing of shorts in the
cafeterias and library. This will

Services and on to higher ad-
ministrative authorities.
Also passed was an addition
to the standing rules which
requires the completion of 30
semester hours for yell leaders
by the end of the spring
semester in which they are elec-
ted. A bill to allocate monies for
Jennings lobby improvements
died because it was thought that
equipment should be in the
building within two weeks from
the April 1 senate meeting.

Class elections
hold
Class elections were held
Tuesday although most can-
didates were unopposed there
were some contested races
according to Ramon Garcia
assistant to the vice president
for student affairs.
In the Sophomore class
election Frances Dzienwoski
was elected to her second term
as president with 80.8 percent of
the vote. DeDe Burleson was
elected vice-president with 49.6
percent to Peggy Thrall's 47.8
percent.
Janene Meiske Mark
Thomasy and Bryant Martin
were unopposed for secretary
treasurer and Student Union
Board representative at large
respectively.
Sophomore senators for next
year will De Lanary tioimes
surprises
Kirk Holderman and Gres
Miller.
In the Junior class Dick
Griffin will be president as he
had 43 percent of the vote to
Paul Snovel's 29.1 percent.
John Hill will be vice-president
Dona Grisham secretary Robin
Lemma treasurer Becky Hyde
SUB representative and Wes
Center Cindy Jones and Terry
Rice will be senators. All were
unopposed.
Senior class president will be
Dale Felder vice-president
Karen Weedon secretary Carol
Bailey treasurer David Bolles
SUB representative Chris
Pearce and senators Steve
Bolles Alberto Perez and
David Griffith.
Pearce won over Pat Long
with 63.9 percent of the vote.
