A survey made this week shows
that holidays are holidays and not
a time for stuffy studying which
is in accord with some people's
ideas of the college student and
in discord with some other peo-
ple's idea.
The questions asked wero "Do
you take any books home with
you over the holidays and if you
do do you study?"
To answer this question a sur-
vey was made about thirty-five
students students in every class
and all types of students from
Alpha Chi on down
The general opinion is "No"
This was well voiced by Dick
Sherwood
"Holidays are for vacationing
and a change of atmosphere There
is plenty of time for studying

"We nre not precisely In sym-

tration but wo realize that as
Texans we arc necessarily demo-
crats ' declared Robert Hlckloj
co-foundor of tho Elt Old
Man's Club ' of the campus last

The organization Is In tho In-
terest of John Garner of Texas
for tho domocratlc presidential
nomination next Juno
According to Weldon Edwards-
tho other co-founder the ' evil
young men" of McMurry hope
that othoi colleges throughout
the South will follow their lead
and get behind Garner He poin
ted out that in foreign countries
college students instigate practi
cally everything that Is for the
betterment ot the totalitarian po
wers He emphasized that the
contention that Garner Is tho
most logical choice of the demo-
crats a man capable of keeping
America for Americans
An earlier announcement stat-
ed that there wero 52 charter
members of the club but a re-
cent recount finds that tho num

One of the organization's char-

Garner could get nil the "whiskey

the nomination and the prcslden-
