Cheerleader Tryouts This Afternoon

cheerleader for the 1061-62
school year has announced
that tryouts for next year's
yell leaders will be held this
Wednesday afternoon at 5:30
p. m. at Indian Gymnasium.
Twenty-one McMurry stu-
dents have been attending
dally practices for the last
week-and-a-half. The would
be cheerleaders have been
learning the ropes from this
year's group of cheerleaders.
They will bo Judged on the
basis of five competitive yells.
The panel of Judges will
consist of Johnny Johnson

A recent amendment to the
Constitution of the McMurry
Student Association took the
editorship out of student
elections and the editor off
the student council.

Prexy: Senators Elected
The third time proved the. Sophomore senators will be
chaim for John Garner BUI Bynum Abilene; Jett
sopnomoie from Abilene in Conner S p u r; Camilla
his quest for Junior Class Roberts Snyder; and Ingrld
president as ho was chosen
last week over Jack Jackson
sophomore from Fort Worth
by a vote count of 45-35.
The two had been matched
against each other twice
earlier. The first time was In
the original voting among
themselves and "Victor Hud-
man. The second vote a run-
off election ended after some
controversy In a tie.
Their second run-off vote
was run concurrently with
class senate elections.
Both senate elections
sophomore and Junior pro-
duced clear winners. No vote
was necessary for the seniors
as only four were running
for the positions.
Elected to Junior senate
positions were Suzanne Ad-
dison Wichita Falls; Conrad
Archor Spur; Donna Burke
Albuquerque N.M.; and
Wayne Starch Ralls. De-
feated were Ronnie Hart and
James Parramore both of
Abllane.

vice president positions of the
Texas Methodist Student
Movement for 1901-02.
The election was conducted
at the group's Spring Leader-
ship Confeience in Kerr-
ville recently.
The conference was the
annual TMSM meeting for
Bringing together the new
local presidents and vice
presidents of the movement
which has organizations on
38 college and university
campuses throughout the
state.
Representing McMurry at
the conference were Bobble

John Kahl El Paso transfer
sophmore; Jimmy True
Waxahachio junior; and the
Rev. and Mrs. Jim T. Pickens.

of TMSM for the coming

Chanters to Sing
McMurry Chanters will sing
for the evening woiship ser-
vice at St. Paul Methodist
Chinch Sunday.
Included in the hom-lung

ments. Dhector of the 30-mcmbcr
group is Dr. Richard C. von

Miss McAnally "was editor
of her high school newspaper
at Olton. While in hiph
school she walked on the
Olton Enterptise foi thice
yeais stalling as teen-ate
reporter and finishing up as
society editor.
While at West Texas and
during the summer preced-
ing she worked on the Can-
yon News as a gcneial tc-
pnrter Outgoing editor Holcomb
will serve on the staff of the
War Whoop next year. Last
year lie was sports editor and
the year befote a staft te-
porter. This edition is his last as
War Whoop editor.
