McM Homecoming
Plans Underway
By JANA WYATT
Preparations for McMurry
homecoming are underway
The October 28-30 event will
be centered around a tradi-
tional Indian theme accord-
ing to Chris McCormick
overall chairman for
homecoming activities.
Elections for Chief
McMurry and Reservation
Princess are being held
today. These two honors are
given each year to senior
students who have displayed
service and loyalty to
McMurry College. Voting
boxes are located in the Stu-
dent Union Building the
cafeteria and the Cooke
Building. All seniors juniors
and sophomores are eligible
to vote. Freshmen are inelig-
ible to vote in this election
according to McMurry Stu-
dent Government rules.
Because of the accident
which occurred at last year's
bonfire MSG is planning to
take an approach that has
been used in past years. The
event will be called a Council
Fire. It will be symbolic of
the traditional Indian Coun
cil Fire where the chiefs and
elders of the different tribes
held conferences.
The fire will be lit under
carefully controlled condi-
tions. After Spirit Indian
1 ights the fire the presidents
of campus organizations
sponsoring tipis will light a
torch from the Council Fire.
The ceremony will be fol-
lowed by a pep rally in the
park.
MSG is now advertising
for donations of wood for the
Council Fire. Anyone with
donations or information
should contact the MSG of-
fice Cindy Rucker or Sally
Robertson.
The Alumni office reports
that around 500 exes are ex-
pected to participate in

ter Director of Alumni Ser-
vices said that 120 McMurry
