tions if you are unsure We'd be
happy to give anyone a tour and
explain everything" said Joan

An Open Letter to the
McM Community:
Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Since God by His Grace en-
compasses our life together here
at McMurry and in Hip wis-
dom oversees the course of our
interactions I would like to take
this opportunity to share with
you the most difficult decision I
have ever had to make This de-
cision even though I am con-
vinced of its correctness re-
mains most painful even
though it is now an accomp-
lished fact
After a month of deep prayerful consideration discussion and
meditation I believe that the Lord has led me to accept the offer of n
teaching position at Asbury Theological Seminary 1 will assume
this position in the fall
The difficult of this decision arose from several facts in the
situation First these two years which the Lord has given me at
McMurry have been the most rewarding and fulfilling cars of my
life to this point Second the encouragement and support which I
have received from Dr Kim Dr Monk and the entire administra-
tion have allowed me to present the content of my courses within the
context of the Biblical perspective and the Christian experience
Third both Dr Kim and Dr Monk made my decision extromolv.
difficult by their loving und supportive understanding of my plight
and their strong expressed desire for me to stay at McMurry. Fourth
Asbury Seminary while openly eager to have me come this year
was very reluctantly willing to wait for a jear if this seemed to be
the Lord's will Fifth and perhaps the most difficult clement in my
decision the fellowship which I have shared with you has wonder-
fully enriched my life and my walk with the Lord and I deeply
regret that it must come to an end
But the Christian life emerges in dying to the old life it order that
one may enter into a new life and at you can see this renhtv
continues throughout the total range of Christian experience This
doesn't make the release of the past any easier however so it is with
profound regret and a feeling of deep sorrow that I will leave
McMurr this yar
Yours in Christ

by Cathlynn Cnmpbcll Ernst
Staff Writer
It all began six years ago
when Dr Kim received a small
grant from the Educational
Facilities Lab to look into the
practicality of partial under-
ground structures
After careful research exten-
sive studies and much traveling
it was decided that McMurry
College would indeed have a
new und very modern Campus
Center that would bo two thirds
underground
From the beginning to the
completion of the architectural
design of the building student
input was very much a part of
the decision making said Dr
Kim
1 he construction of the Cam-
pus Center is on schedule and
tho Center should be ready by
October 1979
Tho Campus Center will have
many different functions
There will be a chapel large
enough to hold one-hundred
fifty-five people
Thero will be a gameroom
which will have ping pong ta-

Also there will be a student
lounge with comfortable chairs
and colorful motif
There will be a snack bar and
faculty coffee bar
Besides this there will be a
special events center or a bal-
lroom where school wide ban-
quets and dances could be held
The Religious Life and Stu-
dent Government offices will be
moved to the Center along with
several small meeting rooms
Also the Post Office and
Bookstore will be moved to the
new center
In tho middle of the Campus
Center will be n court yard
which will have concrete walks
plants flowers and benches on
which students may sit
Recently donated to McMurrj
is a piece of sculpture that
weighs seven tons and is four-
teen feet high
It will be put in the middle of
tho court yard and will be obser-
able from nil aspects of tho
center
Though the new Campus
Center will be very modern its
character and stylo will but
complement the older and more
sagacious buildings on
McMurry Campus and will tend
itself in the furthering of the
progress of us all
