Dr. Paul Lack professor of
history and vice president of re-
search planning and implementa-
tion at McMurry University re-
ceived the 1993 Coral H. Tullis
Prize for the best book on Texas
history at the Texas State Historical
Association awards luncheon on
March 5.

Houston. The Coral Horton Tullis
memorial prize was established in
1967 to honor Tullis for her 35
years of teaching history at the
University ofTexasandber40 years
service to theTexas State Historical
Association.
Lack's book "The Texas
Revolutionary Experience" de-
scribes the political turbulence re-
gional disharmonies conflicts of
interest social upheaval and racial
and ethnic strife that characterized
1835-1836. Published by Texas

The McMurry University chapter
of Students Against Drunk Driving
(SADD) will present a series of events
throughout the week of March 8-12 to
help students going on spring break to
drive responsibly.
At 2:30 p.m. Monday the group
will bring a wrecked car on campus to
demonstrate the dangers of drinking
and driving in a theme entitled "Don't
Wreck Your Life." The car will be
located near the Education building.
On Wednesday SADD will ask
the McMurry community to wear black
ribbons. A new group of people will
begin wearing their blackxibbons every
23 minutes to demonstrate that on av-
erage someone in the United States
will die because cf drunk driving dur-
ing that time.
Also a poster campaign will be
featured throughout the week on cam-
pus describing the dangers of drinking
and driving.
