Sterling is part of the cyberpunk literary
movement which is concerned with high literary
quality the merger of technology and people
and a fair amount of fun He also strongly
believes in the free exchange of information
especially on the Internet
Sterling is a great advocator of technology in
all its forms As one of the last generation to use
a typewriter he said "Typewriters have all the
drawbacks of computers and none of the advan-
tages "
Sterling advises young writers to do something
technologically new if you want to do something
different from your predesessors "
One way that Sterling advocates the use ol
technology is web logs more commonly known
