Lander and Miss Glare Lander, were unable to attend.
Mrs. Langsford, the former Miss Rilla Elizabeth Ward,
was born near Louisville, Ky., on March 17, 1870. She
moved to Waxahachie in 1890 and was married to Mr. Langs-
for d here in 1891.
Mr. Langsford died in 1940. Two of the couple's four
children, Mrs. Lee Lasswell and James Ward Langsford, are
also deceased.

John Splawn Feted On 90th Birthday
John Splawn was honored at a dinner celebrating his
90th birthday, given at his home at Bardwell recently.
Members of the family attending the dinner and
visitors at the event were Mrs. L..C. Cook and Larry of
Ennis; Mrs. Joe Hamic and Robert of Dallas; B.W. Splawn
and Mike, Mrs.Eppie Splawn and daughter; Mrs. Irene Mc
Celland of Fort Worth; Mrs. George Grammer and Dee Ann,
Mr. and Mrs. John Poster of Houston, and Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Boswell.

Mrs. McEldowney Is Honored On 78th Birthday Sunday
Midlothian - Mrs. Lucy McEldowney, who has lived in
and around Midlothian practically all her life, was
honored Sunday on her 78th birthday.
Her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Will Rogers
had all the family at their home on West Ave. C. to join in
the celebration.
Mrs. McEldowney was born in Alabama, April 24, 1882
and her family moved to Texas the following year. They
settled first on a farm near Bells in Grayson county.Then
in 1888 moved to Duncanville where she attended school.
She is the mother of six children and has 13 grand-
children. She married John Samuel McEldowney on Jan. 3,
1905 and reared her family here in Midlothian. Mrs. Mc
Eldowney was the youngest of eight children born of
par ents Jasper and Nancy Sewell.
