the country schools of Texas is
evidenced by 1 a lack of proper
classification and systematic or-
ganization of the work of each
school 2 the lack of Interrela-
tion among the different schools
of the county 8 the absence of
adequately equipped rural high
schools and 4 insufficient pro-
vision for the high school child-
ren residing in common school
districts not maintaining high
schools The rural high school
law confers ample authority on
the county board of education to
remedy this fundamental weak-
ness tho new Jteachers certifi-

shall have better qualified and
more capable teachers and tho
interest of tho people in better

a plan drawn by Mr Julius Leff

corner of Front Street and Av-
enue E and work will be com-

ing when finished will be an
ornament to tho city and add

assembled in Shiner last Monday
for the annual comontion of tho
St Josephs Catholic Society

free entertainment and seemed
to greatly enjoy the occasion
The session were held in Bluech

Death of J H Emken
Died at Dryer Fiiday night
July 7th 1011 Mr J H Emken
aged 82 ycai s The interment
took place at Hochheiin prairie
and was attended by a large
crowd of sympathizing relatives
and fiiends Mr Emken was1
born in Oldenburg Germany in
the year 1829 He came to Texas
in 1882 and resided at Weimar up
to six years ago since which
time he has lHed with his son
Mr Edward Emken at Dry-
er Those relatives from a disi
tance who attended the funeral
