Friday August 21st 1896

The Valedictory address was delivered by Rev. [abbr: Reverend] T. B. McComb - after which the band played the sweet bye and bye
Adjourned to meet on thursday before full moon in August 1897 at such place as the officers and executive committee may select.

Old Settlers' Picnic Program
The following is the Program for the Old Settlers Reunion of Grayson county to be held in College Park at Sherman, Aug. 5 and 6, 1897:

First Day, Thursday, Aug. 5
The association will meet at 10 o'clock a.m. on the grounds.
Music by the band.
Prayer by the chaplain.
Address of Welcome by Hon. J. C. Edmonds, mayor of Shermon.
Response by Hon. J. D. Woods, president of the association
Basket Dinner.
The association will meet at 2 o'clock p.m. at the call of the band. Speech by Hon. G. P. Webb of Sherman, a native Texan.
Short speeches by old settlers.
Games of various kinds, social chats, etc.
Supper.
Speech by Prof. [abbr: Professor] B. L. Jones of Whitesboro.
Speech by Wm. [abbr: William] S. Holt of Howe.
Extemporaneous speeches by old settlers.
Second Day, Friday, August 6.
The association will meet at 10 o'clock a.m. at the call of the band.
Prayer by the chaplain.
Music by the band.
Speech by Hon R. C. Foster of Denison, 10:30 a.m.
Speech by H. G. Bowen, Esq. [abbr: Esquire] of Sherman at 11:30 a.m.
Basket Dinner.
The association will be called together by the band at 2 p.m. sharp, at which time the election of officers will take place, and other business of the association will be transacted.
Speech by W. H. Bullock, Esq. [abbr: Esquire] of Decatur, at 3 p.m.
Short speeches by old settlers.
The remainder of the evening will be occupied in social chats and amusements of various kinds.
Supper.
Speech by John Connelly, Esq. [abbr: Esquire], at 9 p.m.
Short speeches by old settlers.
Valedictory by Rev. [abbr: Reverend] T. B. McComb.
Sweet Bye and Bye.
