Southwest Conference
Organized in 1914, the Southwest Athletic Confer-
ence is the most prestigious in Texas. Membership in-
cludes Texas, Texas A&M, Rice, Baylor, Arkansas,
SMU, TCU, Texas Tech and Houston.
The Southwest Conference football champion is
the host team at the Cotton Bowl Game in Dallas each
Jan. 1. Conference teams also are usually invited to
participate in other bowl games. Champions in other
sports participate In National Collegiate Athletic As-
sociation competition.
