From their rooms in Hendrick Memorial Hospital, in Abilene, come these

members of the Hardin-Simmons family. Both Prexy Sandefer and Dr. Julius
Olsen have been seriously ill for the past several weeks. It is with pleasure
that the Bulletin carries these messages from them to YOU.Prexy's Message

To Our Ex-Students and Friends
Everywhere:
I am happy to have this oppor-
tunity of addressing each of you.
wherever you may be this Christmas-
time, to tell you how much I appre-
ciate and love you. I am wishing for
you the choicest Christmas in all your
eventful lives. It is my hope and
prayer that you may, as I know you
will, relate yourselves to the Christ-
mas spirit in that way that will prove
the most constructive for you both
now and in the years to come. We
celebrate the birthday of Him who is
the author of all Christian education,
and I pray that our every thought and
act will be on the high level accept-
able to Him whose saviorship we
claim.
The beginning of any New Year
is a good time for us, individually
and collectively, to take stock of our-
selves, and to cast aside those things
which are useless and to lay firmer
hold on the things which will makeDr. Olsen's Message
We are thankful we can say our
father, Dr. Julius Olsen, is gradually
improving. He has appreciated and
loved every remembrance - flowers,
cards and telegrams-that he has re-
ceived from his former students all
over the nation. You have no idea
the great place you have in his life
and thoughts. His sincerest wish has
always been that the alumni of iar-
din-Simmons may know life at its
fullest and best. In a world such as
ours is today. splendid and courageous
living is required of all of us who are
fortunate enough to live in a country
where it is possible for the light of the
Christmas Season to guide us through-
out the year.

us stronger men and women for the
work He has for us to do.
I am expressing the hope and offer-
ing the prayer that the year of 1940
may bring you every joy and blessing
that you so richly merit, and that God
in His infinite goodness may bestow
upon you.
