HIGHEST POINT, TOWN, COUNTY IN
STATE.
The highest point in Texas is the sum-
mit of Guadalupe Peak in Culberson
County, which is 8,751 feet. Many old
maps give this elevation as 9,500 feet
because this was the former unofficial
estimate. Only during the last few years
has an exact altitude been determined.
Mount Livermore, or Baldy Peak, in Jeff
Davis County, is the second highest point
at 8,382 feet elevation. Third highest is
El Capitan, 8,078, sister peak of Guada-
lupe. Fort Davis is the Texas town hav-
ing the highest elevation, given in officialTown and
County- Elevation.
