NorT --Thus far our tables of county statistics have embraced the following
aricles, namely: the,first table, the total number of acres of land in eachcounty,
the acres assessed, the value of the land and of the town lots, and the railroads;
the second table the white population of eachcounty, the increase of population
since 1S50, the chief staples, and the average' value of improved and of unimprov-
ed lands in each- county; the third table, the number arid value of negroes, the
number'ai-d value of horses, a d theiuiber and value of the cattle of each coun-
ty: We have placed our fourth table of county Statistics in thielatter part of- this
work, in order that we might giv~ in it the State and County taxes, ,&e., from the
returns of the Assessor and Collectors for the present year, which are not eported
by the Comptroller till late in October. ,We now rqfer the reader thAt table, 'for
the full county and State taxes, the money at interest, the merchandise, the aggre-
gate taxable property, and the county seat of each county. The "Description of
all. the counties" in their alphabetical order, commences on page 53' and emnbra-
oes such information and statistics in regard to each, as could not be given is
tabular form.
