coming census.

nties. This supervisor known as a

* Stonewall and Kent counties a

• hj census. Because of the respon-
sibility of this position we require
the applicants to have a college
background supervisory experience
and automobile. Qualified veterans
Will receive preference. The salary
is $11.92 per day plus per diem and
tear allowance.
The district Supervisor will be
in Aspermont Wednesday Feb. 8th
to interview all applicants for the
position of crcw leader from 10:30
a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The crew leader
will start work March 7th at which
time he will come to Lubbock for
a two weeks training period in the
district office Upon completion of
his training he will return to Stone-
wall County and commence recruit-
ing enumerators. Stonewall County
has been allotted seven enumerators
and Kent County three enumerat-
ors.
On Wednesday February 8th the
district supervisor will interview
only those applicants for crew lead-
er. Persons interested in the actual
enumeration will be interviewed
and hired by the crew leader of
Stonewal County at a later date
which he will announce. The enu-
merators will receive a four day
training 'period beginning March
28th which will be conducted in
Aspermont. The enumeration or

1st.
The enumeration is expected to
be completed by May 1st and pre-
liminary unofficial figures will be
published about two weeks later.

10 ounces.

Golden Anniversary
On Saturday January 28 at Ft.
Worth Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Usry
celebrated their Golden Wedding
anniversary.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs.
L. D. Trammcll of Aspermont; Dr.
and Mrs. Olen Riley and son O J
of Throckmorton; Mr. and Mrs.
John Usry and daughter Linda Jo
of Springtrtwn; Mr. and Mrs. L T.
Williams and daughters Joyce Car-
lyon and Delrose of Fort Worth;
One daugther Mrs. Jack Barbee of
Odessa was not present. Also there
were two grandsons present. Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Wiliams and chil-
dren David and Lorine of Fort
Worth and Marvin Usry of Salina;
Mr. and Mrs. Usry received some
nice gifts and the day seemed per-
fect only at noon they received a
message saying that Mr. Usry's
Brother Frank Usry of Salina had
dropped dead with a heart attack.
This makes the old saying true
that among joy there is sorrow.
They all went over to Salina
where the brother Frank was bur-
ied Monday evening.

Jack Railsback
Candidate For
County Attorney
Jack Railsback this week auth-
orized the Star to announce that he
is a candidate for the office of
County Attorney.
Jack is a graduate of Aspermont
High school and Baylor University
law school. He opened law offices
here last July.
He will issue his formal state-
ment later.
Farm Bureau To
Meet Feb. 9th
A Farm Bureau meeting will be
held in the district curt room at
Aspermont on February 9th at 7
p. m. Oeorgc Hanke secretary has
announced.
Chief speaker for the occasion is
to be Loys D. Barber thr director
of District from Iowa Park.
There will be a district meeting
at Wichita Falls Feb. 7th and all
are urged to go.
Final day for application for
Blue Cross Insurance is March 15
Hanke said.

youth fellowship meeting which
was held in the First Methodist
Church Aspermont Sunday was well
attended. Some 190 being present.
At 3 o'clock Dr. Abe Methodist
Bishop from Japan spoke on the
missionaries.
Mrs. Smith and Mrs. King of
Snyder were visitors in the home
of Mrs. W. P. Guest Monday.
The many friends of Judge T. E.
Knight will be glad to know he
was able to be at the court house
a short time Monday. He has been
ill for tome two months now

Mr. John Guest was carried to the
Hospital Wednesday after a heart
attack last week. He has returned
home at this time.
Mr. and Mrs Henry Dieckmcier
spent several days ast week with
his daughter Mrs. Lewis at Koaring
Springs.
A total of 118!! residents of this
county paid the poll tax this year
in time to vote according to Miss
Lillie Mae Bait/, deputy in the of-
fice of Tax Collector Arthur E.
Brown. There were C exemptions
issued this year. Persons in this
county under or over age are not
required to have exemption if ot-
herwise eligible to vote which ac-
counts for the small number of ex-
emptions.. ,
The 1188 this year compares with
1350 two years ago and 117'' four
years ago, Miss Baitz said.

business here Saturday
Mrs. Belle Boyles who teaches

Stonewall County quota for the
March of Dimes is 39c per person
based on 5000 population and will
run about $2000. 39c seems like a
small amount to you and you might
think easy to get but try contact-
ing 5000 people and see how many
you^miss. No one yet has refused
to give so if it were possible to
see each of you there would be no
trouble in getting over our quota.
If Stonewall County should have
one bad case o£ polio the amount
we have been asked for would not
pay for the one case but it would
be cared for just the same and ot-
hers regardless of how many we
have from this county Let us all
try to help this good work go on.

Hornets Win Games
From Old Glory
Tuesday night of last week the
Aspermont teams split a pair of ga-
mes with the Lueders teams.
The boys won 34 to 32 and the
girls lost 27 to 11.
On Friday night both teams won
from Old Glory, the girls 24 to 23
and the boys 50 to 27
The game with Avoca for Tues-
day night was postponed.
' Hawley is to play games here
tonight with the local teams and
Rule will be here on Hie night of
the 7th.
11,315 Bales Of
Cotton Ginned
In County
A total of 11.315 bales of cotton
were ginned in Stonewal! County
from the 1949 crop by January 1G
it has been announced by the Com-
merce Department office in Spur.
This compares with 4,86-1 bales for
the crop of 1948.
Mrs. Dee Reese and daughter

here Saturday.

acre for royclty. It is reported that
some have received as high as $100.

February 10th
The Texas Water Code Committee
will hold a state wide r^ewtintf on
Feb. 10th at 9 a m in the Senate
Chamber of the State Capitol to
discuss legislation to improve the
water situation in Texas County
Judge Shadle has been informed.
L. Hamilton Lowe the executive
secretary of the committee invites

Married in Brady
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bait/, of Old
Glory wish to announce the mar-
riage of their daughter F.una Dell to
Jack Jones son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Jones also of Old Glory.
They were wed Wednesday Jan.
25 at Brady in the home of her
Aunt. Mr.-;. Carl Juergcnson by the
Rev. Jucrgensen. The wedding took
place at 2:30 p.m.
The bride's wedding dress was
of orchid tissue faille with navy
accessories. Ikr corsage was an
orchid given her by the groom.
The groom was dressed in brown.
The wedding supper was served
in the home of Rev. and Mrs. Jucr-
gensen. The table was laid in white
satin and in the center was the
white tiered wedding cake.
Those attending the ceremony
were the parents of the bride and
groom Mr. and Mr; Bill Baitz and
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jones.

Grand Jury Makes
Five Indictments
The Stonewall County grand jury
returned five true bills in its Tues-
day session the Star is informed.
Gary Lattirner is under indict-
ment in connection with the death
of Dalton Jackson and Kenneth
Lunstord on Dec. 24 in an auto ac-
cident in the north edge of town.
Also Gene Hale and Robert T.
Motley are indicted on two charges
of burglary each in connection with
the burglary of the Flowers store
in Old Glory last November.
Among those attending a lecture
at Haskell last Wednesday night
by Dr. Abe a former Methodist
Bishop of Japan were Pastor and
Mrs. Marvin Menefee Mr. and Mrs.

Velma Davis and Mrs. A. C Foster.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Harrell of
