Student Senate Passes Amendments
To Be Voted on by HPC Students

Howard Payne Yellow Jacket band. The band kicked
off its 1970 season by performing at the Stephen F.
Austin vs. Howard Payne football game last Saturday.
The Howard Payne College
5S-piece band will launch a
three-day tour which will take
the musicians to Grapevine,
Commerce and Arlington Oct.

scheduled to leave Brown-
wood Oct. 2 en route to
Grapevine High School. The
game starts at 8 p.m.
The Oct. 3 schedule calls for
the Yellow Jacket band to
travel to Commerce for a half-
time performance of the 8
p.m. game at East Texas
State University. , v
On Oct. 4, the group will
perform in morning services
at Commerce's First Baptist
Church. After eating lunch at
the church, the band will
head for Arlington.
In Arlington, the musicians
will play for the first serv-
ice of the James Robinson
evangelistic crusade planned
in Turnpike Stadium begin-
ning Oct 4.
According to Berry, 58 mu-
sicians are expected to take
the tpur. These include rep-
resentatives from nearly every
field of study.

Several amendments to the
Howard Payne Student Con-
stitution came before the stu-
dent senate and were passed
to be put to a vote by the
students, in Tuesday night's
Student Senate session.
The senate also debated two
other amendments, but chose
to have matters investigated
by a committee before they
are put to a vote.
The amendments will be
published >!h the Yellow Jacket
for two consecutive weeks be-
fore the election can be called.
Those amendments which
are to be considered by the
student body are:
I. (to be added to section 5.
article VI) . . . ''The freshman
yell leaders shall consist of
one boy and one girl from the
freshman class and shall be
elected under the auspices of
the yell leaders. All candidates
must meet the requirements
or Article VI, Section 4 of this
constitution."
II. Change "the office of Stu-
dent Activities and Promotion"
in article VIIL Section 4, to
"the office of the Assistant
Dean of Students."
Change "the Director of
Student Activities and Promo-
tion" in article VL paragraph
C to "the Assistant Dean of
Students."
III. An amendment to strike

Pictures for the '71 Lasso
will be made a Wright's Pho-
tography, 1900 Austin Avenue,
on the following schedule:
Freshmen—Monday, Octob-
er 5 and Tuesday, October $
Upperclassmen—Wednesday,
October 7; Thursday, October
8, and Friday, October 9.
The pictures will be taken
from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
on each of these days.
Come early in the day and
avoid standing in line.
