January 30th, 1879

Dear Emma,

As I failed to get my letter to the office yesterday, and have time tonight, I have something to try your patience a little while longer with my nonsense. We had a nice shower night before last & yesterday it rained about 4 inches more.

Dolphus told _(?)_ yesterday_(?)_ horse_(?)_ "Pa wouldn't let us have a single horse _(?)_ our both.

I have not been out to see Miss Genie yet, but I intend to go soon, nothing preventing.
