has since retired. John M. Cathey, Jr. is the present owner.
J.H. English was an ardent worker in the Masonic Lodge. The family is
highly respected throughout this area.
They still retain their downtown insurance office.
The White Funeral Home is a newcomer to Mineola.
SHARP FURNITURE
The late Joe Sharp operated this store more than 44 years. It is owned by
Adolphus Vandiver today, (1972). Joe was married to Totsy Neill. They had
three children, Joe Jr., Martha, and Nancy.
HAYWOOD WATTS
A native of Wood County, born September 19, 1888, Haywood came here
and established the Ford dealership in 1933, where the Masonic hall is today.
He sold this concern to John Cooper 1929, and bought A.W. Fulcher's
Chevrolet business May 1, 1930. Haywood sold this business to Otho Mc-
Kaig August 2, 1940. Mr. McKaig has operated a successful business since,
and now has a new and modern home of his own for this business. Bill Ash-
worth is a trusted employee, having served for twenty odd years.
RAY WATTS
Haywood's son, Ray, opened the Buick business in 1940. Ray sold to
Tommy Minter October 1, 1967, and is in semi-retirement. His wife is
(Mrs.) Louise Tharp Watts.
