The. Plowboys put up^ their
greatest fight of the season against
.the Oklahojna Baptist, Bisons,/but
it was all in vain. Their more ex-
perienced opponent? simply out
classed them. '
Understand, vje do not say that
the 0. Br U. players out .played
the Tarleton boys. They did not
do that, Nor did they show much
general all-round superiority. They
just made their efforts count for
mpre; thari those : of the unexperi-
enced Plowboys.
We think a lot of the O. B. U.

Most Successful Program Ever
Presented By Seniors
Friday evening, January 17, the
Seniors of 1930 presented to the
student body, faculty and friends
a variety of entertainment entitled,
"Pirates pf Melody." This program
consisted of a series of musical
numbers, spngs, arid dialogues.
The program..began with a few
numbers of excellent music by the
Dixie String Band, featuring Ed-
mond Finck with the violin, Ilas-
kel''Caisey with the quitar, and
Moore and Gilmore. with the banjo.
The second number on the pro-
gram was a sax-solo by Beck ac-
companied by Elaine Tpwnsend at
the piano. This ..was one of the
main features pf the program and

The Seniors of 1930 are to be
complimented uppn their excellent
entertainment. Iri our opinion it
was the best that has ever been
presented. We can say that "Pi-

though the weather was _bad and
a few of the students were unable
to be present. i

According, to Captain Mulcahy,
the company competition for the
excellent banner will be held, on
Friday, Januare 24, if the weath-
er permits. Rivalry between the
competing companies has become
intense, and a hot competition is
expected.
Captain Hernial Hiqkmari. of Com-
pany "A", when questioned at the

his coinpany would come out on top,
Decker, Moser, Morton and Branch,

able assistance of Gresham, Tam~-
berlain, McNeil and his new ser-
geant* .LaVere Neeley, he was
ppgitive that "B" Cpmpany would
maintain its streak of wins in the
competition, ' ,
David Smith, commander of "C"

Stephenyiile Papers
Consolidate
In this week's paper comes the
announcement of tjie consolidation
of the Stephenville Tribune and
the Stephehville Empire. Mr. Cle-
ments and Mr. Higgs," owners of,
the Tribune, have had a hard time
building up their paper and are to
be congratulated .on the aquiripg
of the Empire,, with its equipment;
They should be able to put out a.
real paper now. „
Due to the vast amount of time:
and labor required' to place both
plants into a working Unit, there
cannot be any, gr^at changes in the
paper this w;eek. However, within
the very near future, perhaps Feb-
ruary, the Empire and the ,Tribune
will be published as a semi-weekly
and> the news service increased.
The Empire is perhaps the old-;
est paper west of Fort Worth, hav-
ing been published continuously
for 55 years.-The Tribune has been
published for a total of 38 years.
With the benefits that have accru-
ed all during these years, the tradi-
tional good will of all, and the
strong principles- of right combined
together,- Stephenville should have
^ much better newspaper. ,

The second half started off with
very speedy handling of the ball
in which, the Bisons proved super-
ior because of their Jongs experi-
ence and not the. showing of more
fight. The game ended,with the

; Tarleton started the game off
with a bang. when N, Cowan made
a beautiful cpunterf., N. Cowan
was guarded very closely during
the rest of the game and failed to
do any more scoring.
Weaver and Hamil came into the
game and took it on with dazzling
speed. The ball was handled very,

creased during the remainder of
the game.

Coach Oscur Frazier
John Tarleton is very fortunate
in having such a man as Oscar
Frazier for a coach of its track
team. He is a graduate of the
Agricultural and Mechanical Col-
lege of, Texas, where he was a var-
sity track star. Year, after year,
he has turned out winning . track
teams, and this year, froni all
present indication, should be his
banner year. Great material is in
eyidence, and we should , have %
great team. Coach Frazier' will do
his best, help him.
