PROF LOCKED IN
STUDENTS WALK
Dr. Dick Smith, entergetic
bespectecled professor, is not
prone to give his. classes walk:,
even on Saturdays. But some-
times there are exenuating
circumstances when to take
any other course would be fool-
hardy or even dangerous.
Such was the case last Sat-
urday when Dr. Smith prepar-
ed to meet his 10 p. m. 201
history class. But he never
reached the classroom.
Upwards of forty or fifty
ingenious students, tired of end-
less lectures and notes, revolt-
ed and led by Burnaby Mun-
son, Max Roberts, and others
calmly proceeded to lock him,
along with two innocent, be-
wildered bystanders, Dr. O. A.
Grant and J. P. Simpson, in
the , social science office by
placing doorstops under closed
doors and barricading the win-
dows.
After. 15 minutes of waiting
for their professor, who
couldn't have come if he had
wanted. to, the class proceeded
to take a walk. Dr. Smith was
finally released, but refused to
come out, and his only com-
ment when questioned about
the experience' was "Drop
Dead!"
SCOUTS OBSERVE
40TH BIRTHDAY
The 40th birthday of Girl
Scouts was observed with a Par-
ent-Dalighter supper at the Col-
lege Dining Hall, recently. Two'
hundred and twenty-fivt Girl
Scouts, Brownies, parents, an-',
guests attended the afiair.
Joseph Chandler, acting as
toastmasteivgave a brief talk on
the purpose of Girl Scouting and
what it should mean to the people
of a community.
The program of the evening-
consisted of the Brownie troops
singing "The Brownie Smile
Song" and the Girl Scouts sing-
ing "Girl Scouts Together." Mrs.
Nona Wilson Wright delighted
the group with her chalk talk
drawing as Miss Mary Hope
Westbrook read a story. Joe Son
es and Eddie Ray Seals brought
many laughs to the group ' with
their rendition of several musical
number^.
Work Progresses
On New Building
Steady progress is being made on
the shop building which is going
up on the site of the old agricul-
ture building.
The process of the new building
began in January, and with steady
work it is believed that the build-
ing will be ready in time for the
opening of the fall semester.
The cement floors have been
completed and the walls are going
higher each day.
Frames for the ground floor en-
trances have been set up, also.
Students will soon be enjoying the
use of a new shop building.
Three Coeds Enjoy
Greasy MA Course
Unusual things are always hap-
pening on the Tarleton Campus.
Here is another oddity that may be
added to the present long list.
Three of the Tarleton co-eds are
taking Mechanical Arts this last
semester. They are Darlene Rob-
bins, Sally Fraizer, and Audry
Davidson.
It is unusual for girls to take
this course, and before they were
permitted to take the course, they
cac'h had to get permission from
the parents.
On Tuesday afternoons it is not
surprising to, see three little girls
covered from head to toe in grease
com.e in-from their M. A. Lab.

Pool Opening Date
Warm weather is coming
soon, and we know the students
are all ready for' the new swim-
ming pool to open so they can
have a nice cool dip.
However, there has still been
no definite date as to when the
pool is to be opened, as there is
a lot of work to be done on it.
Before opening, the pool
should be just a certain color,
and they still have to work on
that before i't" can be opened.
However plans are being form-
ulated to re-open the pool just
as soon as it is practical to do
so.
