TSC Enrollment
Reaches 837
Spring enrollment reached 88?
Monday with five days left foil re-
gistration it was reported by Regis-
trar Stuart Chilton;
.Total Enrollment figures, should
leach between 910 and 925, before
the last day of registration Satur-
day, Chilton said.
Monday's figure represented a
12.3, per cent increase over enroll-
ment at this time last year. .Total
enrollment 'last spring was 790.
Yesterday's total included 627
freshmen, 189 sophomores and 71
special students.
' A further . breakdown revealed
that 702 males are enrolled com-
pared'to ,185 females, an approxi-
mate four to one ratio.
In the classes there are 517 fresh-
men males and HQ females. There
are 155 sophomore males and 34
females.. ■ ■
Jn the special student category,
there are 30 males and 41 females.
Congratulations, Tarleton. State
basketball tenm> for the fin© sea-
son that you have had thus fart
Onions .to you, student body at •
TSC, for not supporting a hard-
working team that has won 11
games and only lost 4.
The attendance of college stu-
dents at -TSC basketball games
has been very discouraging. At ,
the last game in the Tarleton gym,
there were only about six college
students present.
' Even the most spirited and de-
termined team can get discouraged
if the students of the school for
which they are playing do not
>:ven show enough interest to at-
tend the hi;me games,
One basketball player recently
made the remark that he wished
that some of the students would
start coming to the games. \JVheit -•
the attendance is so bad that the
players start noticing it, then
there is surely a need for some-
body ^to show some interest.
The next Tarleton home game
is Saturday ^night, The,Plowboy
will meet the San Angelo College
quintet at 8 p.m. in-the TSC gym-
nasium. •
After this game, there are only
two more home games — nexty
week with Cameron and March 1
with the Arlington State Rebels
joyrneying to TSC for the last
game &f ,the season.
Surely we have enough school
spirit to show our basketball team
we are behind them.
