ferenoe teams in both season and

The Vikig victory threw the con-
fereneo .lead into a tie between
Cameron State and San Angelo
^ollegeand gave additional signifi-
cance, to fthe-schedule clash of those
teams in San -Angelo Feb. 27.
Only one more week of round-
Jball activity remains for most
teams,- in the PC and Wharton JC
will close out its season this week.
The Wharton squad made a last-
ditch effort to salvage its prestige
with a 74-70 victory over the Tar-
leton "EloiyboyB Saturday night.
In other league action last week
Cameron defeated Victoria, 81-69;
Del Mar defeated Tarleton State,
66-63; the San Angelo Rams de-
feated Wharton, 61-59; Victoria,
65-50; and Goodfellow Air Force
Base, 93-73, to round out a, per-
fect record for the week. Tarleton
State defeated McMurry College
"B" team, 68-65; and Hardin-Sim-
mons University freshmen, 59-56.
Victoria lost one to the University
of Texas frosh, 80-35; and Whar-
ton defeated the Rice freshmen,
65-63 in a non-loop affair.

Three sophomore lettermen from
Stephenville have been elected tri-
captains for the 1960 plowboy
track team, track coach O. H. Fra-
zier announced Thursday. The
three trackmen, Larry Jones, Guy
Golden, and Franklin Wood, have
been running together since they
were freshmen in high school.
They were all members of the win-
ning 440 sprint relay team at the
National Junior Meet at Hutchin-
son, Kansas, last year. This relay
team also set a Tarleton record
42:8 seconds. Jones and Golden
also ran on the mile relay that set
another Tarleton record of 3:21
for the mile.
Besides running on the sprint
and mile relay teams, Jones took
third in the .440 at the Pioneer
Conference Meet and fifth in the
quarter at the National Meet.
Golden won the quarter and the
880 at the Conference Meet and
ran the fastest 440 that has ever
been run at Tarleton, His time
was 48.9. He took second in the
quarter at the National M.eet.
Wood took third in the hundred
yard dash and the 220-yard dash
and took sixth in the 220 and fifth
in the 100 at the National Meet.
He ran the fastest hundred, 9,7,
that has been run at Tarleton.

Odessa. Jr. College. Other matches
are pending with T. C. U- fresh-
men) and Texas Wesley an Col-
lege of Fort Worth. The Plowboys
will terminate their season play in
Corpus Christi, Texas at the con-
ference meet.
Dr. Flory has compiled a most
outstanding record as he has pilot-
ed the Plowboy netters to thirteen
titles in his ten years as tennis
coach. Four times in these years

Barbara Burke and Rod Davis
were , elected the Sweetheart and
the Beau of the I960 Methodist
Sweetheart Banquet, held last
Thursday night in the Methodist
Student Center at 0:45 p.m. Miss
Burke, a senior business major
from Richardson, and Mr. Davis,
a senior ranger management
major from Sonora, were honored
before, a group of 30 high school
and college students. •
Six Methodist Youth Fellowship
students presented a skit concern-
ing the takeoff of the Shakespear-
ean play, "A Mid-Summer Night's
Dream."
Donald Lpwrie,, from Welling-
ton, and Priscilla Morton, from
Stephenville, gave their rendition
of "True Love."
Morgan Garrett, pastor of St.
Mark's Methodist Church in Cle-
burne, was the speaker. Mr. Gar-
rett spoke on the physical, mental,
and spirtual aspects of true love
and closed by giving practical ad-
vice on dating.
Student center director Frank
Leach said that everyone had a
wonderful time and that the well-
presented play was an evident suc-
cess.
The theme for next week at the
center will he the discussion of
the denominational standings of
the major doctrines: the Bible,
salvation, and the sacraments.
Barbara Burke will be in charge
and she urges all members to come
and participate in the program,

Week, the center will discuss the
topics of the RE speaker.

lettermen return from last years
team. Wayne Kiser and Johnny
Erickson are the returning letter- -
men and both played In the con-
ference meet l'ast spring. Kiser
reached the finals in singles play'
but lost to the Victoria entry in .a.
three and one half hour marathon
match, Kiser teamed with Milton
Birk in the doubles; but were also
defeated in the finals by a Victoria
entry.
Listed as other 'possible entries
on the team other than Kiser and
Erickaon. is sophomore. Jerry Caiv
ruthers and Buddy Sfcacney.
Kiser, a sophomore from Mid-
land, it) 1968 was ranked fyy "tht
Texas Tennis Association twenty-
