Once complete, the building will be used as the new Math building. Besides new construction, numerous older buildings across-

There's a joke around the
Tarleton campus that if you
toss a brick on the ground,
a new building will spring
up overnight. An exag-
geration, but the speed at
which bjjck aiid mortar and
glass and steel assemble
into new buildings for the
swellings Wdent population
can be amazing to watch.
The jpcrea'sq in |reshmen
has virtually forced Tarleton
State University to embark
on an ambitious building
ing spaces, called Centennial
Hall, has adopted goals of in-
creasing retention of students
and supplying academic as-
sistance within the residence
hall. . Each floor will have,
study areas where tutoring
and study groups can meet.
The new hall will, also feature
a game room, main lounge
and multi-purpose room.
Top floor of the resi-
dence hall will be reserved
for honors students. Return-
ing students will be limited
to occupying only 30 per-
cent of the rooms, and they
must maintain a 2.5 grade
point average in order to
qualify for the space. Each
room .of the 300-bed facil-
ity is set up with a bath-
room separating two sleep-
ing areas. Workers expect
to finish the facility this fail.
Texan Village residence
hall has also added a whole
similar amenities with com-
pletion scheduled for this fall.

Remembering the good times...
Faculty members share memories about Reagan
By Kelly Tippit
Editor-in-Chief
With the passing away
of former president Ronald
Reagan, thousands of people
across the world are
mourning. However,
with two Tarleton fac-
ulty members, the news
hit a little closer to home.
Tina Boitnott, Assistant Di-
rector of Career Services,
remembers her experience
like it was yesterday. Boit-
nott and her husband were
stationed in Germany when
they received an invitation
to attend. The speech given
in Germany on that day was
later known as President
Reagan's preliminary speech
to the Berlin Wall speech.
"Itwasveryexcitingbeing
there, and being behind the
iron curtain," Boitnott said.
Another Tarleton em-
ployee member shared her
own memories of Reagan.
Only this time, it was during
his administration as Gov-
ernor-of California. Nancy
Bond, Executive Secretary of
the College of Graduate Stud-
ies, was given the opportuni-
ty of a lifetime at the age of 23.
fff j Bond ' began her job
working for Ronald Reagan
in the Press Secretary's office.
But, fate would play out, and
Bond was given the posi-
tion of being Mrs. Reagan's
personal secretary. "She
asked for me to be her per-
sonal secretary," Bond said.
Working for a gover-
nor demands a great deal,
and with that she was able
to spend a lot of time with
them and their son. Many
times Bond would enter-
tain their son and take
them out, something that
the Reagan's couldn't do
because of the crowds that
would gather around them.
"They treated me like a
family member," Bond said.
In fact, she recalls on nu-
merous occasions in which'
Mr. and Mrs. Reagan would

the U.S. Army will send him.
"My dad and I were sit-

told me that,if I didn't get
my grades up, then I would

said. Mathis' father didn't
know that his son had really
wanted to join the military
all along. The Mathis family
has a long heritage of serving
their country, but Jory was
always torn between joining
the air force or the army. He
