To build a beautiful house requires more or
less expense. To properly paint it requires
the services of an expert. Fences, trees,
flowers, etc., cost more or less, but there is
something that can be done to improve many
of the places about our town. We may not
be able to build a fine house, but we are all
able to pick up the tin cans about our prem-
ises; we can gather up the picces of wire
that lie about in the way; we can gather up
the rubbish that now lies about, unseen un-
der this covering of snow. It now looks as
if this mantle of charity would soon be
lifted; then, if you should come about the
premises of your humble servant, yoa would
find some things that would not accord very
well with the principles laid down in this
paper, but some of them will be remedied as
soon as the departure of .this snow will per-
mit.
Judge C. G. Witherspoon was
then called upon". The Judge had '
seen exceedingly busy of late with
Commissioners Court and his own ex-
tensive business and asked to be ex-
cused for not having prepared a pa-
per, promising to not let it happen
again. He gave, however, an im-
promptu talk on the needs and require-
ments of a tow® the size and
prospects such as Hereford has,
which was very interesting. He also
moved that Prof. Martin's paper be
published in the Hereford papers,
which was carried.
Dr. R. M. Johnson was next on the
program, his subject bein^, "General

but a few minutes -previous, been
called to attend a patient, and it

After reading the above minutes pf
the two previous meetings it is to be
hoped that everyone will.be inteiapted
enough to become a member- and
thus work for the town';* welfare.
If your business won't permit- of get-
ting out and doing active voriL you
can at least become a memb<j£ and
thereby helpithe active, working rriem-
bers from a financial standpoint.
We have a healthy and beautiful
town started and it needs but. little
work on the part of the citizens to
make it what it is destined to be^—
