A Chilicathe farmer realized $125
an acre on his S-acre water melon
patch this year.
G. L. Naylor of Clarendon reports
that he will have a forty-bushel-to-
the-acre corn yield.
Davis E, Decker received the
nomination for state senator at the
Henrietta convention.
Willie Montgomery of Memphis
was accidentally killed on the 21st
by the discharge of a gun which he
was carrying.
Officers of Wichita and Clay
countics had a lively chase for horse
thieves last week. They .recovered
the stolen horses, numbering 39
head, but did not capture the thieves,
Mrs. T. J. Beckham of Wichita
Falls, while cutting rcses in her
yard, had the misfortune to be struck
in the eye by a suddenly released
¿witch. It is feared that the loss of
the sight of the injured eye may re-
sult.
Alf Beard was appointed city
scavenger Tuesday evening by the
council. He is city secretary, treas.
urer, chief of police, marshal and
scavenger. It is in order to elect
him city attorney, mayor and alder-
mar., r ;ul the city bukiness won't

A. P. Rider, an aged invalid of
Wichita Falls, committed suicide
July 21, by shooting his brains out
with a revolver.
