Laurel Heights is another enjoyable spot where the air is as dry and pure as altitude and
direct sunshine can render it.
Lakeview, Beacon Hill and Dignowity Hill are also inviting localities, and the list is not
yet taxed, for on Government Hill new elements of interest and beauty crop out and the
presence of innumerable strangers, snugly domiciled in the pretty houses, attests the popularity
of the neighborhood with the invalid. The boulevards of the Post, the beautifully kept
grounds, the drilling exercises, the gay music and handsome equipages make the environments
of the Fort of abiding pleasure.
While the San Pedro Springs cannot boast the dainty enchantment of those at the San
Antonio's mouth, the pretty park that shuts it in, the
berylline purity of the water, the shinmnering beauty of T
the water-cresses and the tameness of the myriad fish,
unite in a rare mosaic and form a pleasant lounging i
spot for the invalid. At any and all of the points of
interest mentioned there are villas, cottages, private
boarding houses and accommodations for the stranger i I
immediately at hand. A genial, social atmosphere and ..
a rare good fellowship obtain in each of the neighbor-
hoods, and culture, wealth and refinement magnifv the
desirability of a residence at any of them. ,BEAR PIT, SAN PEDRO PARK.
