is seldom taken unless public officials are spurred into it
by forces that should never need to be invoked. It is pos-
sible, of course, that the "gold brick" swindler would be
equally immune from prosecution if influential newspapers
received large advertising contracts from people engaged
in the "gold brick" industry. Let the officers of our great
commonwealth, whose duty it is to protect the public, pro-
ceed against the dirty quacks. Let the State examining
Boards revoke the license of all such men employed in such
business, and they will soon be following some legitimate
profession.
