Mr. McLafferty May be Successor to Joaquin
Miller.
This wonderful poet and historian, and representative of
the Viavi preparations, came to San Antonio to assist their
representative in her trial for unlawfully practicing medi-
cine, and at once tried to entrench himself into the good
graces of our women's clubs, and got himself prominently
mentioned in the papers. We quote headlines from our
papers.
McLafferty may be successor to Joaquin Miller. Took
up writing for recreation and has published three volumes.
"Poet of the Sierras" is his friend. One day while waiting
in a crowded bank to transact some business with one of
the tellers, he scribbled this toast on the back of his deposit
slip. It was given to the press, and has traveled around the
world, (so he says).
