A company hns Just been formed In
this city for Ihe establishment or an-
other electrlo plant with a eapllnl of at
least $2.1000 with more at command. If
necessary. The lights used will be the
Kdlion Incandescent which are appli-
cable to stores offices and private resi-
dences. In fact any place where gas Is
used. The establishment uf this plant
Is especially opportune at this tlmo
when Ihe gas company has mmle Itself
obnoxious by Its professed reduction
neutralized by a corresponding reduc-
tion of discount!. The now electrlo
light company have already received ai-
surances of patronage that puts tho en-
terprise bejond an experiment. The
use of wntcr yower Is In contemplation
and It Is assured that the lights will be
in operation within n very short lime.
A Good Dinner
This Is what a Linnr reporter sat
down to-day In Ihe Maverick store room
on Solednd street. The dinner was
served by the members of Ihe Ladles
Aid Society or St. Mark's Episcopal
church and was all that could be wished
for In the way of epicurean delights.
Each table was presided over by two
pretty lady waiters In neat costumes
with bib aprons looking charming and
giving their gentlemen guests a heartv
appetite by their bright glances anil
merry chatter.

Probable Lynching.
News renched Ihe city yesterday by
a private letter that Charles Small the
son of a former hacktnan of this city
named Kirk Smull.had killed a Mexican
on February 7 In Clifton Arizona.
Small Ihe letter stated was In Jill but
Ihe feeling was very strong against him
and It was believed I hut an ' attempt at
lynching would be tnado despite the
strong guaid which surrounded the Jail
to protect him Irom ihe mob.

John Edwards a solored man received
a good ducking In tho river at the ford
back of the French building early this
morning. He rode a Utile pony Into the
river to water when the animal stum-
bled nnd fell In Ihe water himself un-
der the pony. He extricated himself
being a good swimmer and easily land-
ed as did the horse but the poor fellow's
hat went floating "gently down the
stream" and lias not been recovered.
