labor riots remains as during the day
with erery Indication that all trouble
has come to an end. Two more deaths
making six In all have oocurred from
wounds received In yesterday's fusllado
at Iiayvlew. Johnson Mafslka and the
boy Frank Nowatzka died to-day.
Martin Jahanwtaka and Albert Krd-
uiann are In a critical condition and
physicians hare but little hope of tbelr
recovery. The arrest of several social
Ists bas been efleoted to-night and a
etc. found In their residences Las been

Ciiiciao May 0. The fund for the
benefit of the families of the dead and
wounded policemen has swelled to $28-
000. The police raided the hall or tbo
anarchists this morning and seized a few
muskets. No riotous assemblies have
been reported thus far this morning.
The trouble Is believed to be ever.
An incendiary lire started In tbe lum-
ber yard near the North Avenue bridim
this morning. A can containing explo-
sives to whloh a fuse was attached was

the man who threw the dynamite bomb
on Tuesday night was a revolutionary

Dallas Tex. May 8. A large num-
ber of laboring men at tbe court-bouse
to-night attended a meeting to dlsouss
the 8-hour move. The contractors were
there and said It would be unnst to
make them pay ten hours' wages for
eight hours or work on contracts al-
ready made. It was deolded to work
the full ten hours on the present con-
tracts but to demand eight hours' work
and ten hours' pay In future. Tbe meet-
ing was harmonious and orderly.
Muskkkcox Mich. May 0. The Mus-
keegon Shingle and Lumber company
mills the largest on the lakes shut
down this morning owing to the block-
ade by the Chicago strike. There have
been no shipments for a week and tbe
mill will not start until the strike ends.
Burnt Mon. May 0. The Knights of
Labor on tbe Utah and Northern branch
line or the Union Paclflo to Montana
have ordered a strike or brakemen on
account or dissatisfaction over a recant
method adopted by the company or
gradlag pay according to the number of
miles run Instead of a uniform rate of

one from returning to work at the terms
offered by the management 15 per cent
advance In wages. About 5UO men In all
bad determined to resume their places
at the advance and appeared at the
gates but were not allowed to pass
through by the strikers. A squad of po-
lice soon arrived and tinder their pro-
tection tbo 500 men pasted Into tbe
works and distributed themselves In
various departments. Soon afterwards
Mr. Deerlng appeared before the strikers
and Informed them that tbelr demand
had been granted; that thereafter eight
hours would constitute a day's work
and that they would receive an Increase
of wages from 10 to 15 per cent. Tbe
strikers will return to work to-morrow.

the strike or tbe Third Avenue railroad
mployes Is unchanged. Strikers did
not return to work this morning be
cause they were not satlslled with the

are still guarded by police.
Cincinnati May 0. The strike of the
freight handlers Is at an end. Men are
already at work In live of tbe freight
yards. Others will resume this after-
noon. The exact terms are not made
known but It Is generally understood
that the men have an advance of from 15
to 2i cents a day.

southwest of here. II. B. Jacobs a
farmer saw the storm coming and gath-
ered his wife two young children and
his brother Charles in a wagon and
started to flee but they were overtaken

vehicle and occupants. Mrs. Jacobs
and the younger child were drowned
while Mr. Jacob nearly perished en-
deavoring to nave them. The brother
saved himself and tbe other child.

says : The damage to streets buildings

will reach $10000. The Missouri Pacldo
track is washed out in several places be-
tween here and J'ort Scott. Crops are
seriously damaged.

United States and Is primarily answer-

which recently passed over London and
Belgium. It thinks that the vigorous

connection with strikes and boycotting

The Eight-Hour Law.
The elgnt-hour law Is not very popu-
lar in San Antonio for as a general
thing tbe saw cuts oil both ends of the
board. Where there Is a reduction of
hours there Is also a corresponding re-
duction ot wages and rather than -this
the worklngmen labor the full 10 hours
Mr. O'Learv. however cava his plaster
ers 25 cents per day Increase over the
rate of wages that would be paid for
eight hours work. San Antonio work-
lngmen and employers are generally fair
and reasonable setting their matters In

There Is golng.to be a game of base ball
at the San Pedro Springs ball park to
morrow afternoon between newspaper

donated to the Alamo Monumental As
sociation.

Humored Railway Accident.
It Is rumored tbat a terrible wreck bus
ocourred to the south-bound exprria
train on the International railway which
Is due here at 11 o'olock from Austin.
