APPROPRIATION TO PAY TIIE CONTINGENT EXPENSES OF
THE FIRST CALLED SESSION OF THE THIRTYSEVENTH
LEGISLATURE.
H. B. No. 170.] CHAPTER 27.
An Act making an appropriation to pay the contingent expenses of the First
Called Session of the Thirty-seventh Legislature of the State of Texas,
convened July 18, 1921; providing how accounts may be approved, and
declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. That the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars, or so much
thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of the General
Revenue not otherwise appropriated to pay the contingent expenses
of the First Called Session of the Thirty-seventh Legislature of the
State of Texas.
SEC. 2. The approval of the Chairman of the Committee on Contingent
Expenses of the Senate, approved by the President of the Senate,
or of the Chairman of the Committee on Contingent Expenses of the
House of Representatives, approved by the Speaker of the House,
shall be sufficient evidence to the Comptroller of Public Accounts
upon which to audit the claims and issue warrants for the respective
accounts upon the State Treasury.
SEc. 3. The near approach of the end of this Session, the crowded
condition of the calendar, and the necessity for making an appropriation
to pay the authorized and unpaid expenses of this Session
of the Legislature creates an emergency and an imperative public
necessity that the constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on
three several days be suspended, and the said rule is hereby suspended
and this Act shall take effect and be in force from and after
its passage, and it is so enacted.
[NoTE.-The enrolled bill shows that the foregoing Act passed the
House, no vote given; and passed the Senate, yeas 28, nays 0.]
Approved August 21, 1921.
Effective August 21, 1921.
