Chapter 127 S.B. No. 526 1 AN ACT 2 relating to grants for federally qualified health centers. 3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 4 SECTION 1. Section 31.017, Health and Safety Code, is 5 amended to read as follows: 6 Sec. 31.017. FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTERS. 7 [(a)] The department may make grants to establish new or expand 8 existing facilities and to support new or expanded services at 9 facilities that can qualify as federally qualified health centers, 10 as defined by 42 U.S.C. Section 1396d(l)(2)(B), in this state, 11 including: 12 (1) planning grants; 13 (2) development grants; 14 (3) capital improvement grants; and 15 (4) grants for transitional operating support. 16 [(b) Ti se ex e Spmber , .] 17 SECTION 2. This Act does not make an appropriation. This 18 Act takes effect only if a specific appropriation for the 19 implementation of the Act is provided in a general appropriations 20 act of the 81st Legislature. 21 SECTION 3.
