Reminded To
Get Stickers
With the State's Vpril 15
motor vehicle inspection
deadline approximately 90
days away, large numbers of
Texas motorists have yet to
rake their vehicles in for the
mandatory annual safety in-
spection.
Colonel Wilson K, Speir,
Director of theTexasDepart-
ment of Public Safety, :oday
urged all motorists whose
vehicles have not been inspec-
ted to visit an inspection sta-
tion as soon as possible.
"Those getting the inspection
now will avoid long lines wh
ich are certain to develop at
many stations as the April 15
deadline draws near," he
said.
The DPS Director noted that
Texas adopted an annual in.
speotion program on Septem-
ber 1, 1969. All vehicles in-
spected since that date have
had the sticker placed on the
left side of the windshield with
a large number tab inserted
to show the month of expira
tion.
[•'or example, vehicles in-
spected in September have the
number nine displayed and
will require reinspection be
for September 30, 1970.
Those inspected in October
have number 10 and must be
reinspected before October
31, 1970. Vehicles which are
inspected in January will bear
the number one andreinspec-
rion will be required before
January 31, 1971.
All vehicles which currently
have a sticker on the right
r ide of the windshield have Mt
been, reinspected in compli-
ance with the new law, aOBd
their owners have only unBtl
April 15 to visit an approved
inspection station.
