A Rock Island Reader
all the time, and in the near future its projectors confidently expect that it will
favorably compare with any inland city on the Aransas Pass road.
THE SURROUNDING LANDS,
when fully settled up - which is now being done - will bountifully support a good
town, and as many of the immigrants - who are mostly from Missouri, Iowa,
Illinois and Indiana - are introducing some northern and western methods in
farming, it will not be long before they will require and will have a bank for the
accommodation of the people, simply because it will be a necessity, and because
these immigrants are accustomed to this kind of an institution at their former
homes.
Appended is a list of sales of land and partial sale of town lots, and we refer
prospectors and immigrants to any of these gentlemen for a verification of the
statements made above.
