The Old A.acedonia
Cemetery Updated
Efforts to restore the Old Macedonia Ceme-
tery were begun recently when a eroup of des-
cendants of people buried there gathered and
laid plans to reclaim the historic site.
The cemetery, located near Hollands Quar-
ters, is already marked by a State Historical
Marker and a Texas Revolutionary War Veteran
marker. But the grave sites and markers are in
very poor conditions according to Bob Browning
of Carthage, (one of two trusteesof the ceme-
tery. )
The Saturday meeting, Browning said was
"pretty well attended" by both black and white
county residents whose ancestors are buried in
the old cemetery.
"Our preliminary plans are to have the
original plot surveyed and fenced, " Browning
commented. "Then we'll have a general work
day to clean it up and try to restore all the
markers. "
Browning and Mrs. Marylee Knight of Beck-
ville started the move to restore the old ceme-
tery. Browning said he became interested in
his family history about a year ado and found
