BOOST ON BAR SKILLS- Miss Suzanne Modisette of the Rusk Peppers
Gymnastics Team receives instruction on bar skills from Jack Hyman of San
Antonio at the Christmas Round-up Gymnastics Clinic held Dec. 24-29 in San
Marcos. The clinic, conducted on the Southwest Texas State University campus,
gave training to young gymnasts from throughout the state. The Rusk gymnasts
participating are students of Mrs. Jan Modisette, who accompanied them on the
trip.

participating in the four-
day event were: Suzanne
. and J,J. Modisette,
daughters of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Modisette; Lisa
Jacobs' daughter of Mr.
• and Mrs. Davis E. Jacobs;
Lesley Long, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Long
and Maurine Kimbrell,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Ferguson.
Also participating with
the Peppers was Gina
Price of Henderson, grand-
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Price of Rusk.
Coaches and dance
teachers from all areas of
the state taught the 115
participant gymnasts both
compulsory and optional
skills. The girls worked on
tumbling, trampoline,
vaulting, uneven bars,
balance beam and floor
exercises. They also had
classes in modern jazz and
ballet.
The Rusk gymnasts
participated with the high
level Class III group and
the low level Class II
group. Kimbrell and the
Modisettes will be compet-
ing Class II next fall.
A splash party at the
Aqua Sports Center of the
University and a trip to
Aquarena Springs amuse-
ment park were extra
activities enjoyed by the
gymnastics team.
