3 W s share in fun at meet
f
By: GUYNELLKENNEDY
The 3 W's met Tuesday, June 13,
with Christine Jones for a day of
work, fellowship and fun.
The fun time each meeting is the
"Shoe & Tell Time." The hostess
showed a framed poem written by
Kerrie, her daughter-in-law, for a
Mother's Day gift from her eight
sons entitled "Ode To Christine." In
various lines of the typed poem
were red letters that spelled her
name, as C for caring and H for
humor, ect. It was a tribute to her
as a Mother.
You should ask Christine for a
copy as it is a beautifully worded
poem.
Then she showed her hallway
which had her plate collection on
one side from all the USA states as
she and Alvie had visited in each
one. On the opposite wall the proud
mother had their framed family
pictures.
Dixie Dolcater modeled her blue
short sleeve sweat shirt which she
had decorated. She took a guest
towel gift and cut out all sizes of
butterflies, bonded them to the
shirt, then painted and outlined
each one with gold paint. Anyone
can bond or paint a design and have
an original shirt or dress.
Guynell Kennedy was ready to
show a "Frig Butterfly" that her
friends, Blondie Moses, from
Rosenburg had sent to her with a
pattern for the meeting, but she
discovered that she had left it at
home so she gave directions as she
promised to bring the butterfly to
the July meeting.
Jessie Ash brought packages of

white periwindles to give to each
member to plant in her flower gar-
den as periwindles bloom all sum-
mer. Then she brought a surprise
gift from Katy Sue Jackson to give
to each member. She had made
"Booklets" from various idea of
"Arts & Crafts." No two booklets
were alike so each member can ex-
change hers at each meeting. The
3W's extended to Katy Sue a great
big "Thank You."
Jessie cleaned out a drawer and
found a booklet that the Home
Demonstration Agent had given to
each member 20 years ago entitled
"A Woman-Looks At Herself-How
To Be Charming." She read aloud
many funny things.
She also brought a sack of big
sweet plums and small tomatoes for
the "Recess" when the hostess ser-
ved coffee and fruit juice with
baked cookies decorated with
raisins.
The members who were not there
missed a good fresh vegetables
covered-dish dinner, even fresh
peach cobbler that the hostess
made to go with Jessie's famous
chocolate pie.
Back-to-work after a rest period.
The members were working upon
various types of work which in-
cluded crocheting around coat
hangers, hot plate mats in wheat
design, weaving, pot lifters in single
stitch which folds into double
thickness, counted cross stitch pic-
tures and a sweater made from an
Afgham stitch design.
The meeting came to an end-all
too soon as each member expressed
enjoyment for the day spent with
Christine.
The July 11 meeting will be a
"Hamburger" day with Jessie, so
mark your calendar.
