are vested in the board of trustees as provided by the General
Laws of the State of Texas, except that the present board of trustees
of Common, School District No. Two of Oldham County, shall
serve as trustees of said independent school district until the
election and qualification of their successors, as hereinafter provided.
SEC. 3. The county judge of Oldham County, shall within ten
days after the taking effect of this Act, or as soon thereafter as
practicable, make an order for holding an election on a day therein
named, and at a place therein designated, within the said district,
for the purpose of electing seven (7) trustees of the said
Wildorado Independent School District. The county judge shall
appoint an officer to preside at said election, who shall select two
clerks to assist him in holding same, all of whom shall receive
such compensation as is provided by General Law. Ten days
previous notice of said election shall be given by posting notices
thereof at three public places in said independent school district.
Said election shall be held as are general elections under the laws
of this State for the election of school trustees, and return thereof
shall be made to the county judge of Oldham County within
five days thereafter.
SEC. 4. The term of office of the seven trustees shall be divided
into two classes by lot, as follows: Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 shall
serve for one year, or part thereof, that is, until the election of
school trustees in April following said special election and until
their successors are elected and qualified; and the three members
drawing the numbers 5, 6 and 7, shall serve until the second
April after said special election and until their successors are
elected and qualified; and regularly thereafter on the first Saturday
in April of each year four trustees and three trustees, alternately,
shall be elected for a term of two years to succeed the
trustees whose terms shall at that time expire.
SEC. 5. The said Wildorado Independent School District shall
have and exercise, and is hereby vested with, all the rights,
powers, privileges and duties of a town or village incorporated
under the General Laws of the State for free school purposes
only, and the board of trustees for said independent school district
shall have and exercise, and are hereby vested with, all the
rights, powers, privileges and duties conferred and imposed by
the General Laws of this State upon the trustees of independent
school districts, including the right to levy taxes and issue bonds
of said district, to the extent, for the purpose and subject to all
the provisions, limitations and conditions that said power may
now or may hereafter be exercisable under the General Laws of
this State by the trustees of independent school districts incorporated
and organized under the General Laws of this, State, applicable
to towns and villages incorporated for free school purposes
only; and said General Laws are applied to and declared
to be in, full force and effect with respect to the said Wildorado
Independent School District.
