220 SPECIAL LAWS.
Thence down with the meanders of said river to the northwest
corner of the Henry Scott league;
Thence north across said river to a point on the north bank
thereof;
Thence in an easterly direction 7200 varas to the southeast
corner of the Samuel Isaacs league, which is also the southwest
corner of the James Knight and W. C. White league;
Thence up with the meanders of said river to a point opposite
and due north of the northeast corner of the Henry Scott
league;
Thence due south across the Brazos River to the northeast
corner of the Henry Scott league;
Thence down said river with its meanders to the place of beginning
and embracing the following surveys and parts of surveys
and acreage, to wit:
All of the Henry Scott league; B. B. B. I. J. D. Vermillion survey; Hugh
Rogers survey; J. F. Weed survey; T. F. Carr survey; C. P.
Osborne survey; Moses Merritt survey, H. S. A. Brooks and Burleson Surveys Nos. 3 and 4; S. P.
R. R. Co. Survey No. 1; J. T. Dyer Survey No. 2; H. B. B. Y. Ferris Survey No. 16; Y. Ferris
Survey No. 23; B. B. B. John
Foster survey; 840 acres out of the G. M. Stone survey; 602
acres out of the John Foster league north of the Brazos River;
1240 acres out of the Wm. Andrews league and 650 acres out of
the Samuel Isaacs league and part of the J. W. Moore survey
and part of the James Lowrey survey, all of which surveys and
parts of surveys are situated in Fort Bend County, Texas, containing
an aggregate of 17,000 acres more or less, and is the
identical territory which comprise the Rosenberg Independent
School District heretofore created under the General Laws of
this State and the lands and territory added thereto by special
Acts of the Thirty-fifth Legislature by House Bill No. 823,
Chapter 147 of the Special Laws passed at the Regular session
of said Legislature.
SEC. 2. The management and control of the public free
schools within said district is hereby vested in the board of trustees,
which shall be composed of seven persons, resident citizens
and qualified voters within the district. The board of trustees
as heretofore elected and now constituted under the provisions
of the General Laws of this State are hereby continued in office
until their respective terms shall have expired and their successors
shall be elected as provided by the General Laws of this
State.
SEC. 3. The Rosenberg Independent School District shall
have and exercise and is hereby vested with all the rights,
powers, privileges and duties of independent school districts under
the General Laws for public free school purposes only, and
the board of trustees for the Rosenberg Independent School
District shall have and exercise and is hereby vested and charg-
