CREATING AND INCORPORATING THE HUNTER INDEPENDENT
SCHOOL DISTRICT IN TERRY COUNTY.
H. B. No. 465.] CHAPTER 154.
An Act creating and incorporating the Hunter Independent School District
in Terry County, Texas, out of territory now composing the
Hunter Common School District Number 12, in said county as heretofore
created; defining its boundaries; providing for a board of trustees
thereof, and defining their powers and authority; authorizing
said board of trustees to levy, assess and collect taxes for maintenance
and building purposes and to issue bonds therefor; providing
for an assessor and collector of taxes thereof; providing for a board
of equalization for said district; providing that all outstanding obligations
and indebtedness of said Common School District No. 12 in
Terry County shall be assumed by and become binding obligations of
said Hunter Independent School District, providing for the validation
of all such obligations and indebtedness; continuing in force the certain
maintenance tax heretofore voted in said Common School District
No 12; providing that title to all public free school property within
said territory shall be vested in said Hunter Independent School District;
providing for the election and terms of office of trustees of said
Hunter Independent School District, and declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. An independent school district to be known as
Hunter Independent School District, situated in Terry County,
Texas, is hereby created as an incorporation for free school purposes
only.
SEC. 2. The said Hunter Independent School District hereby
created includes the territory now embraced within Common
School District No. 12, in Terry County, Texas, which is described
by metes and bounds as follows:
Beginning at the northeast corner of Section No. 19 in Block
C-37, Terry County, Texas;
Thence west following the section line a distance of five (5)
miles to the northwest corner of Section No. 40 in Block DD;
Thence south following the section line a distance of one (1)
mile to the southwest corner of Section No. 40 in Block DD;
Thence west following the section line a distance of two (2)
miles to the northwest corner of Section No. 63 in Block DD;
Thence south following the section line a distance of three
(3) miles to the southwest corner of Section No. 89 in Block DD;
Thence east following the section line a distance of seven (7)
miles to the southeast corner of Section No. 6 in Block C-37;
Thence north following the section line a distance of four (4)
miles to the northeast corner of Section No. 19, Block C-37, and
the place of beginning.
SEC. 3. The management and control of the public free schools
in said Hunter Independent School District is hereby vested in a
board of trustees, which board shall be composed of seven persons,
resident citizens and qualified voters within said district,
who shall be elected and qualify as hereinafter set forth.
SEC. 4. The board of trustees of said Hunter Independent
