CREATING SPANISH FORT INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
IN MONTAGUE COUNTY.
H. B. No. 491.] CHAPTER 73.
.An Act creating and establishing the Spanish Fort Independent School
District in Montague County, Texas; defining its boundaries; providing
for a board of trustees in said district; continuing in office the board
of trustees as heretofore elected in said district until the expiration of
their respective terms of office; vesting title in said board of trustees
to all school property in said board oi trustees to all school property in
said district; conferring upon said district and its board of trustees all
of the rights, powers, privileges and duties now conferred and imposed
by the General Laws of Texas upon independent school districts and
the boards of trustees thereof; providing for a seal, and for the selection
of a secertary, treasurer, and assessor and collector of taxes; for
a board of equalization and prescribing its duties; providing for the
levy, assessment and collection of any tax voted for the current year and
annually thereafter; providing that if any part of this Act is held invalid,
the remaining parts of the Act shall not be invalidated thereby;
providing for the repeal of all laws in conflict herewith, and declaring
an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislatutre of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. That the Spanish Fort Independent School District
of Montague County, Texas, is hereby created and, established in
Montague County, Texas. containing within its limits the following
described territory, to-wit:
Beginning at the northwest corner of Francisco Escobar Survey:
thence south with the west boundary line of said Escobar Survey,
1350 x aras to the northeast corner of Block No. 107 of the Kaufman
County school land;
Thence west with the north line of Blocks No. 107, 96, 83 and 70
of said Kaufman County school land, 3848 varas to the northwest
corner of Block No. 70 of said Kaufman County school land;
Thence south with the west boundary line of said Block No. 70,
202 varas to the northeast corner of Block No. 59;
Thence west with the north boundary line of No. 59, 48 and 37,
2750 varas to the northwest corner of Block No. 37 of said school
land.;
Thence north 1750 varas to the northwest corner of G. M. Coursey
Survey;
Thence west with the south boundary line of A. W. Bates Survey
308 varas to the southwest corner of same, and continuing west 1483
varas to the southwest corner of a tract owned by C. H. Howard in
F. Robertson Survey, in all 1791 varas for corner;
Thence north 5454 varas to the northwest corner of a 640 acre
tract out of F. Robertson Survey now owned by S. E. Howard;
Thence east with the Spanish Fort and Rowland public road 1483
varas, cross the east boundary line of the F. Robertson Survey and
at 2080 varas the southeast corner of a 148 acre tract out of the
Thomas Scott Survey now owned by J. L'. Foster;
Thence north 11 deg. 52' east 1222 varas to his northeast corner;
Thence west 722 varas to the east line of the F. Robertson Survey,
and 824 varas, a corner;
