receive bids from depositories in the manner set folth, which method
may be continued until a depository has been selected and qualif ed.
When selected, said depository shall continue until its release as
such in one of the manners herein provided for. If the board shall
at any time deem it necessary for the protection of its funds, or
the funds of the district, it may require the selected depositors to
execute a new bond, upon written notice from the secretary showing
that such order was passed at a regular meeting of the board,
and upon failure so to do within five (5) days after service of a
copy of such order on the depository the board may proceed to select
another depository in the manner hereinbefore provided
SEC. 22. The board, as selected, shall exercise supervisory authority
and control over the selected depository in relations to its funds,
and shall have full power to inspect its books, checks, warrants,
d afts and vouchers and receipts of such depository at any time.
The selected depository shall present to the board at least once each
month, alnd before the tei ch day of each month, a detailed statement
showing the expenditures and receipts of the board and its
financial condition, aiid the board, if such statement is found to
lbe correct, may approve the same and cause it to be filed and recorded
in the records of said loard, but if such report is not approved,
then the depository shall be required to forthwith make a
true and correct statement.

boa l( or distr ct for expenditures of any character, which have been
authorized b)y the board shall be signed by the president and atteste(d
)y the secretary.
SEC. 2:. 3 All] of the official nats of the City of Houston 1pertain.ng
to public schools, and of Harris County Colmmon School District
Number 25, and all the official acts of the City of Houston Independent
School District heretofore made, except as are herein otherwise
s)eeifIcally provided, are hereby validated, confirmed and approved;
and all taxes, levies and assessments upon each one hundred
($10000) dollars valuation of the property taxable in said
district, as is niw in force, is hereby in all things validated, confirmed
and continued for the year 1923; and thereafter, the fifty
(50c) cent tax rate on each one hundred ($100.0fO) dollars valuation
of property taxable in said district, provided for in the election
liad in the City of Houston Independent School District on October
25, 1919, is hereby in all things validated, confirmed and continued;
but from and after the 31st day of December, 19,23, if this Act has
been adopted and the organization of the board of education herein
provided for has been completed, the twenty-five (25c) cent tax
vcted by the tax payers of the City of Houston, and of the City of
Houston Independent School District, on the 6th day of May, 1920,
is hereby cancelled and annulled, and shall thereafter in all things
be held for nauoht.
All city of Houston "School Bonds" and "School Refunding
Bonds,'' amounting at this time in the agregate of two million
three hundred sixty thousand ($2,360,000.00') dollars, 'heretofore
issued by the City of Houston for school purposes, and all of the
