VALIDATING THE CREATION OF RIO GRANDE CITY
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT IN
STARR COUNTY.
S. B. No. 274.] CHAPTER 1.
An Act validating the creation and consolidation of Common School Districts
Nos. 1, 2 and 4 of Starr County, Texas, and Rio Grande City
Independent School District, in Starr County, Texas, forming the Rio
Grande City Consolidated Independent School District, in Starr County,
Texas; validating all orders and proceedings in connection therewith;
granting to said consolidated district all the rights, powers and privileges
of a town or village incorporated under the General Laws for
free school purposes only and granting said consolidated district the
right and power to levy taxes for the purpose of maintaining the public
schools in said district and purchasing, constructing, repairing, and
equipping public free school buildings and purchasing sites therefor;
authorizing the issuance of bonds and limiting the rate of maintenance
tax and the rate of bond tax that may be voted, levied, assessed and
collected in said consolidated district; authorizing said consolidated
district to maintain a junior college in addition to the elementary and
high school courses; providing for the extension of boundaries; and
declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. That the creation and consolidation of Common
School Districts Nos. 1, 2 and 4 of Starr County, Texas, and Rio
Grande City Independent School District in Starr County, Texas,
and the formation thereby of the Rio Grande City Consolidated
Independent School District in Starr County, Texas, be and the
same are hereby in all things validated.
SEC. 2. That the orders passed by the board of county school
trustees of Starr County, Texas, on July 15, 1926, re-establishing
and re-defining Common School Districts Nos. 1, 2 and 4'of said
County, be and the same are hereby validated.
SEC. 3. That all proceedings in connection with the incorporation
of Rio Grande City Independent School District, including
the election held on the 12th day of July, 1926, and the election
of trustees for said district are hereby in all things validated.
SEC. 4. That the election and all proceedings pertaining there
to held in Common School District Nos. 1, 2 and 4, and Rio
Grande City Independent School District on the 9th day of
August, 1926, for the purpose of consolidating said common
school districts and said independent school district, thereby
forming Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District,
are in all things validated, and all orders passed subsequent
thereto by the commissioners court of Starr County, and the
board of trustees of said consolidated district, are hereby validated.
